Driving Landmarks: From Route 114 north or south, take the Massasoit Avenue bridge across the Barrington River (by the big white church) and take an immediate right onto Bowden Avenue. In two blocks look for a path leading down to the water opposite Wamsutta Avenue. The right of way is not well marked.

Note: Because one boat launch can access, say, both a lake and a river or both the upstream and downstream portions of a river, not all paddling trips at a given site will necessarily encounter all of the features listed.
Comments & Overview:This town right of way provides access to the Barrington River for hand carried boats. From this put-in you can head north into One Hundred Acre Cove (but be prepared for very strong tidal currents under the Massasoit Avenue bridge), which is a large tidal estuary. Large parts of the shoreline of One Hundred Acre Cove are protected open space owned by various conservation organizations and agencies.
You can also head south from this put-in down the Barrington River towards the junction with the Warren River and ultimately Narragansett Bay. The further south you go the busier this river is likely to get.
WARNING: The tide runs very strongly through the narrow areas in both the Barrington and Palmer Rivers, especially under the bridges, making these areas treacherous for small boats. Use great caution near any of these bridges! Remember that at slack tide there may be little or no current but a short while later the current may be very strong. The nearby Barrington River - 100 Acre Cove put-in is a better place to put in for a paddle on One Hundred Acre Cove .
